Central Co-op - Tentative Agreement Reached! Contract Vote Scheduled

On Friday, January 24, our Bargaining Team met with Management for our second bargaining session. We are very pleased to announce that we arrived at Tentative Agreements for both the grocery and meat contracts that the team can fully recommend "YES" votes in favor of ratification!

This agreement includes:

  • Increases in wages that bring us much closer to industry standards for grocery workers in 2025. These increases are retroactive to January 1, 2025.

  • Additional 2.25% increases for all wage steps in 2026 and 2027.

  • New "escalator" language in our pay scales that guarantees that the first wage step will maintain twenty-five cents above the Seattle minimum wage should it increase, and that the subsequent steps will each maintain at least twenty-five cents above each the previous step. This prevents the minimum wage from "eating" the bottom of our wage scale.

  • Less steps in the pay scales, reducing the number of working hours needed to attain both Journey and Senior Journey.

  • Shortened number of working hours needed to reach the highest PTO accrual rate (mirrors new wage steps).

  • Two added days of paid bereavement for a new total of five paid days off in the event of the death of a family member.
