Seattle Children’s Hospital Tech Bargaining Update

On Monday, January 13 our Bargaining Team met with the Employer for the fourth time to continue negotiating a contract that values and respects our unique skill set and contributions to caring for our kids.

We are not being heard. After the Employer gave us their counter proposals to the crucial non-economics, we were frustrated at their continuous failure to read the room. They denied much of our important language such as increasing donning and doffing time, bereavement leave, OT language, and more. They feel they have the right to mandate who is on the worker’s side of table during committee meetings. How would they like it if we decided who can be on their side of the table?

After much anticipation, the employer responded to our economic package; we were left underwhelmed. We felt they weren’t interested in premium pay that compensates us for the additional safety risks we are often faced with. Again, the Employer did not listen to us when we explained what we need to recruit and retain an excellent staff.

It is time to show the employer that we are serious about winning a strong contract. Let’s demonstrate our unity and commitment to enact collective action if necessary! Stickers, buttons, lanyards/badge reels are an excellent way to communicate our intentions to the employer. Ask our Union Representative to drop some off at your worksite and share share share with your colleagues!
