Seattle Children’s Hospital Technical Bargaining Continues!

Our Union Bargaining Team met with Seattle Children’s Hospital Management on Monday, February 3. Because the Employer needed more time to put together their second counterproposal on economics we began midday. Unfortunately, this stretched out to 3:00pm as our team discussed the issues and anticipated how Management might respond. This meant that we only had time to receive their proposal just before the 4:00pm scheduled Contract Action Team meeting some of you attended.

Next Friday, February 14, we will need to spend some time analyzing their counterproposal and send over our third economic package proposal in response. While initially we can see that we are not in agreement with some of management’s ideas, both sides have shown movement. We have negotiations scheduled (in addition to February 14) on February 21 and February 24. Our team would like to emphasize that because everything economic is being presented in package proposals, we do not have tentative agreements on any specific wage premium, wage scale for an individual job class, or any other economic item. Rather, each pass allows us a greater understanding of management’s overall position as we consider ours and respond.
